MPTTA runs active programs at its stadium and at local schools. Please see below for more information.
MPTTA sees Juniors as the lifeblood and future of the sport. As such the club devotes extensive resources to create opportunities for juniors to play table tennis. The starting point is usually Friday juniors called SpinKids which begins at 530pm during school terms (when COVID-19 restrictions are not in place - see Home page). This program has fun activities, games, competitions and coaching. This is so popular that often the entire family ends up joining the club to play socially and/or in Pennant competition or handicap competition. There are development pathways for all Juniors who can progress through coaching and training and learn new skills and develop their potential. Many have gone on to win trophies (available at all standards), and to represent the club, Victoria and Australia. Most of all the focus is on fun and enjoyment.
MPTTA also works closely with schools to provide an introduction to table tennis for primary and secondary school aged children. We have our SpinKids program and we are part of the Table Tennis Australia highly successful Spinneroos program which will likely restart when COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
SpinKids is the MPTTA program for children/adolescents under 18 yrs of age. It provides an introduction to table tennis in a fun and social environment. It runs 530pm to 7pm on Fridays during school terms. It is fully supervised with coaches present. There are fun activities and players learn the basics including skills and the rules. From SpinKids many players progress to competition and training and coaching activities. Parents are most welcome to come along and support their children and get involved.
Junior Lightning League runs Friday evenings nominally 7-830pm during school terms but is temporarily replaced by COVID-19 return to play Stage 1 - see Home page
Training camps are held during school holidays and are fully supervised and run by qualified, experienced coaches. Parents are most welcome to observe. Times and days are advised well in advance. Contact us for information.
Local schools: MPTTA runs regular coaching sessions and programs at local schools. Contact us for more information or if your school would like us to visit.
